You may have heard that “your greatest wealth is your health” and we’d say that there is definitely truth in that!
We’re not talking about the things to do with health that there’s little control over, rather we’re aiming to empower you in the things you CAN control. These are things that can significantly impact the lifestyle you choose for the rest of your life. This is a huge part of the development of yourself in society. It all starts when you are young. Now is the time for you to renew your thinking around health and start living your best lifestyle that will last a lifetime.
Living your best life is not necessarily what you think it is. You may think that a dose of FOMO is more of a knock than the potential of tainting your health long term but we encourage you to stick with us, as we take a look at the bigger picture.
Lifestyle Choice: Your Move
The best way to live life boils down to your perspective. You can either believe the best about your life or you can choose not to value one of your greatest assets – your health.
It really is your own decision to make. We can give you all the info you need, but it is still up to you to recognise how awesomely you’ve been designed. When you know that, then stepping up to look after what you’ve been given is a breeze.
It is not just about avoiding the many illnesses that currently circulate the South African atmosphere, it is really about making good lifestyle choices so that you can achieve everything you set out to achieve in life so that you can live your best life!
Live your best life: end a bad Lifestyle Early
We get it, you know exactly what is good for you and what is bad for you. We could tell you all about how sneakily drinking alcohol too early in life is bad for your health (which is why it is illegal), or that smoking and eating unhealthy foods will impact your health long term… or that sleeping around with strangers, or even kissing strangers can impact your life forever… but you already know that, right? The research (and your teachers and parents) have spoken…
What we really want to do is to inspire you to get serious about your personal lifestyle, because of the information you already know about health. As mentioned above, it is not simply about avoiding illness, but it is more about living a vibrant and FULL life where you are not limited by health issues or cirsumstances.
It is also WAY easier to end the bad influences earlier on in life.
Removing the bad is all very well, but you need to replace it with GOOD habits so that you don’t feel tempted to fall into the bad again.
We recommend putting in one little baby step at a time early on in life. Start small and build your way up to replacing bad habits with good ones.
Here are some easy things that you can slowly implement into your schedule – yes, you need to carve out the time to look after yourself!
- Hydrate: Drink 8 glasses of water daily. Keeping your body hydrated will help with skincare and it will help your body in removing harmful toxins.
- Move: Your body was made to move! Get active doing something fun. Go for a walk, a run, get involved in a team sport or just run around with your dog.
- Nourish: Nourish your body with wholesome food. Let the healthy food outweigh the unhealthy food, it is all about balance.
- Rest and Enjoy Life: Sleep well, rest on weekends and allow your body the time it needs to repair and protect through good rest.
This might seem strange to say, but ‘birds of a feather will flock together,’ get yourself into a group of friends who will build you up rather than break you down. Get some people who will help you implement the GOOD habits in your life, rather than those who will lead you down a rabbit hole of bad decisions. This is vital in the development of yourself in society as it becomes part of who you are. You will DEFINITELY thank yourself later in life!
