Get it Together

There are three main documents that almost all institutions require:

  1. A certified copy of your ID
  2. Proof of payment of any application fees
  3. A certified copy of your grade 11 results and latest grade 12 results

Getting your documents certified sounds more fancy than it actually is.  All you need to do is head down to your local police station or find a commissioner of oaths (a lawyer will do).  If you have this sorted, you’re off to a good start.

FYI: South Africans learners wishing to apply online will need a working email address and an ID number. Foreign learners wishing to apply will need to have their passport number.

NBTs are NB

Applicants must check individual further requirements for each course and each tertiary institution. Please also be aware of NBTs and check with your university if you need NBT results to apply. For more information on NBT’s click here.

Keep Calm

If you are intimidated about the whole applying thing, we have some pointers to help you keep it together.  Breathe in, breathe out and take a look at a few application tips hereNo one likes to stress out and leaving your application to the last minute is the best way to go into panic mode.  The number one rule for applying to tertiary institutions is to meet the application deadlines.  If you do that, you’re winning at being an applicant.

EduConnect 2Cents

Don’t miss out!  Applying for tertiary education is the only way to get a tertiary education.  This is your time to make it happen.  Choose an institution or a few institutions and get applying.  Bring on the studies, 2018!

  4. Hi there, it’s all dependent on whether or not the department will allow you to enter the course. You’ll need to raise these concerns with the department you’re applying to. Some institutions offer programmes which can help you with some subjects that you’re missing out on.

Have a look at this article

  9. Hi guys I just want your advice.

I am doing my 1st year in Social Work at UWC but the problem is I don’t like it anymore. I think I wanna do teaching but the problem is I’m a university student and my studies are funded by a bursary. Is it OK if I dropout now? What should I do? Thank you
    0787496946

  10. Hi Lesego 🙂 You could drop out but you would probably lose your bursary. I would suggest that you stay in your course at least until the end of the first semester, perhaps even the end of the first year since you can’t start studying teaching till next year anyway. Try and finish the modules you’re doing. The jump from high school to university is huge and sometimes it scares people and they don’t enjoy their course like they thought they would. Stick it through and see what happens. You could also complete the degree and then do your PGCE as a postgrad. This will allow you to become a teacher.
If you do drop out, contact the organisation that awarded you the bursary and explain the situation. Perhaps they would be willing to fund your teaching studies next year.
Try and do some job shadowing. Job shadow a social worker and try and job shadow in a school class for atleast a week to see if it’s something you could really see yourself doing.

  35. Hi there 🙂
The institutions which have the best reputations for pharmacy are the University of Western Cape (UWC), Rhodes and the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN). It is best to apply sooner rather than later and apply to many institutions rather than a few.
    All the best!

  36. Hi there,
Institutions such as AFDA, the National School of the Arts and Campus of Performing arts are all great places to study. Apart from that, universities such as UCT, Stellenbosch University, Rhodes and Wits have great drama departments.
    All the best!

  37. After you have chosen an institution or a few institutions you would like to apply to, get your hands on an application form and complete it. Remember to take note of the supporting documents you need to attach and the closing date/s.
    All the best!

  38. Hi there,
This will depend on your interests and where you would like to study. You could still study law if you choose to upgrade your marks through a bridging course.
    All the best!

  39. Hi there 🙂
You will be able to use your upgraded set of results when applying. This should be issued by Umalusi and be accepted. Depending on what and where you would like to study, you will find links to apply to the different institutions in the article. You may start applying for NSFAS to fund your 2018 academic year now.
    All the best!
